The Energy Desk value what apprentices are able to bring into a company; they bring new ideas, a hard working outlook and a sense of renewed youth to the company. TED have employed many apprentices over the years and we currently have one in our employment who is undertaking a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship.
Apprenticeships are a great step towards a brilliant career in many different industries. The apprenticeship scheme allows young people to gain nationally and industry recognised qualifications, valuable skills, experience, and earn a wage all while being employed.
We believe that young people have the talent and eagerness to learn and develop their skills that they can help take any business forward in the future. We set up our apprenticeship scheme in 2008 when we employed our first apprentices. Since then our business has grown and multiplied allowing us to take on new apprentices and develop their skills in the industry. The TED apprenticeships have provided them with a base of knowledge that they can use to progress in our company or another industry altogether.
At TED we are able to provide Level 2 and 3 Apprenticeships in Business Administration, Level 4 Apprenticeships in Business and Administration and even Leadership and Management.
We employ our apprentices using Themis, which is one of the largest training providers in Lancashire. They provide a wide range of Apprenticeships and business training solutions which allow individuals and businesses to develop the skills they need to thrive. Themis currently work with over 1,000 Apprentices, delivering apprenticeships in over 50 subject areas including Business, IT, Engineering, and many other areas.
“As an apprentice, I have been able to progress and gain knowledge in different industries and experience so many different things that I wouldn’t have been able to in another branch of education. I have made friends, got a great job and have been able to learn so many new things with TED and I wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without being on the apprenticeship scheme with Burnley College. I would seriously recommend the apprenticeship to anyone who wants to gain a qualification, get experience, and earn some money at the same time. ” Josh, Level 4 apprentice
“I have recently joined the TED team as an apprentice in the administration department. At just 16 I found joining a company with myself having a few skills and no experience in admin, a big decision but I love being here and improving myself. Everybody is supportive and eager to pass their training and knowledge within the company on to me. Having a job in the energy industry has given me lots of skills already and I feel like I’m going to learn so much. I see myself being in the company for a long time and working my way up to be as successful as I can.” Emilly, Level 3 apprentice.
